Siobhan Fagan – Cancer Exercise Specialist®, Personal Trainer, Pilates & Indoor Cycle Trainer
Registering for the program was a Godsend for me. Not only did Andrea’s lectures help explain the medical aspects that I quickly got lost in previously, we were able to ask questions and it was quite interactive! I LOVED being in the group!!! Andrea was so kind and patient with her explanations and Shannon was amazing as well. What a wonderful moderator; keeping us on track and organized!
I feel grateful and so fortunate to be part of this ‘family’. I am so excited about the future opportunities and to be of service to more people…..

I have gained so much knowledge and a new understanding through CETI’s Cancer Exercise Specialist course. It has brought a new perspective and sense of empowerment — not only in my personal life, but also in my career. I am confident that I did the best I knew to do during treatment, but looking back and knowing what I know now, I wish that I had that person guiding me, motivating me, giving me that sense of control to get through it and survive it even better.

In 2019 researchers from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) reviewed hundreds of epidemiologic studies on the link between physical activity and both cancer risk and cancer mortality. The analysis of the findings by a panel of experts representing 17 partner organizations, including ASCO, the American Cancer Society, and the National Cancer Institute, resulted in new exercise recommendations for cancer prevention and improved quality of life for cancer survivors.
There is strong evidence for an association between highest vs lowest physical activity levels and a relative-risk reduction of between 10% and 20% for seven malignancies (bladder, breast, colon, endometrial, esophageal, renal, and gastric cancers). The report also found that greater amounts of physical activity, including vigorous aerobic exercise for 75 to 150 minutes per week, were associated with a relative-risk reduction of between 40% and 50% in mortality from breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers.
