Safe and supportive programs are improving the quality of life for survivors. The physical and psychological benefits of Pilates can aid in the rehabilitation and recovery of cancer patients. The National Cancer Institute explains that exercise in general has been shown to be beneficial to cancer patients undergoing treatment and in recovery. Many forms of exercise may, however, be too high-impact for patients suffering from fatigue and muscle weakness. the CES Pilates Mat Course is a wonderful option for cancer patients because it is low-impact and features exercises that can be easily modified to suit a patient’s needs and abilities.
Cancer patients and survivors often present with muscle weakness and imbalance, limited range of motion, fatigue, and pain. The CES Pilates Mat Course allows patients to safely and gently reintroduce movement at any stage of recovery. The specific movements are dependent on the individual’s type and stage of cancer and recovery and addressed in the materials.
